Shay Vande Lune – Owner & Instructor
Shay Vande Lune is a 200 hour certified yoga instructor. She lives in Pella and is married to her best friend, Chad and they have three children, Nathan, Aaron, and Camille. Shay was encouraged by her chiropractor to practice yoga to improve her mobility that was deteriorating due to years of different forms of physical fitness. She saw amazing results and realized that yoga had much more to offer than just improved mobility. It provided space to breath and move without judgement or comparison. Her passion for teaching yoga draws from her passion for people to know and feel that they are lovable, valuable, capable, and enough. When not in the studio teaching or on her own mat, Shay loves to travel, read, spend time with friends and family, snow ski, run, workout, or do a puzzle.

Valerie Bandstra – Instructor
Valerie Bandstra is a registered 225 hour Holy Yoga Instructor and a certified Holy Yoga Trauma-Sensitive Instructor.  For Valerie, yoga is an immensely spiritual practice where her passion for movement and her faith harmoniously intertwine.  Valerie studied exclusively under Brooke Boon, founder of Holy Yoga and author of Hatha Yoga Illustrated.  In addition to teaching Holy Yoga classes in Pella, Valerie leads Holy Yoga workshops in various communities including the Holy Yoga Experience, a nationwide event.  She has also taught yoga at Sequoia Yoga and Fitness, Pella Health & Fitness and at Crisis Intervention Services in Oskaloosa.  Valerie and her husband have two children and live just outside of Pella.

Carleen Coppock – Instructor
Carleen has practiced Yoga on and off for many years and when presented with the opportunity to become 200-hour certified in the fall of 2019, she took a chance. Her extraordinary experience during the 200-hour training made her love for yoga grow even more. Carleen’s personal yoga practice focuses on the balance between strength and flexibility, exertion, and surrender. Her favorite classes to teach are restorative and gentle yoga. Carleen lives in Pella with her husband Gary and their two daughters, Sarah and Rachel.

Ali Rivera-Cranmer – Instructor
Ali is a daughter, wife, mom, passionate, people-loving, learner. Ali and her husband Mike have been married 13 years and moved to Pella in June of 2010. They have two incredible daughters that teach Ali much about love and life, and two labradoodles that teach her a lot about patience. She is excited to be in this new adventure with Selah Studio!

Sarah Kroes – Instructor
Sarah has been teaching group fitness for 3 years and focuses on functional strength training. By mirroring the movements of your daily life, like squatting, reaching, or even carrying a heavy object, building functional strength can help increase your quality of life and reduce your risk of injury! Classes are taught for all fitness levels so everyone can participate. Sarah works at Pella Corporation and in her “free” time, she likes to camp with her husband and sons. She also loves mud obstacle course races, rock concerts, and is pursuing her board certification in Health Coaching.

Deidra Rankin – Yoga for Kids
Deidra Rankin is a certified Kidding Around Yoga (KAY) instructor. She lives just outside Pella with her husband Cory and their three kids Aurora, Amira, and Royce. Deidra became passionate about kids yoga when she found her own love of yoga and her kids begged to tag along. She knew that their needs would be different from any yoga class she was attending plus their short attention spans wouldn’t be able to handle an hour of straight yoga flows. She began her online research of what a yoga class for kids would look like and after a few online trainings she discovered a live training in Des Moines for KAY. After completion of the training she knew she wanted to bring this version of yoga back to the kids in Pella.

Jayne Stark – Instructor
In April of 2018, Jayne became a registered 225 hour Holy Yoga™ instructor and is registered with Yoga Alliance. Holy Yoga brings an intention of scripture from the Bible to the practice of yoga. It is just another way of deepening our spiritual connection and setting our mind on the Lord. Yoga has been an important part of Jayne’s life for the past several years due to lower back pain. She is thankful that she now can teach others and have them enjoy the wonderful release that yoga is for the mind and body. Restorative slow flows and Yin yoga are Jayne’s favorite type of classes. She is still learning to take time to slow down her own yoga practice because when she does, her back and body relax, becoming more pain free. Jayne and her husband and moved to Pella in the Fall of 2016. They have been married for 20 years and have four children.

Michelle Van Maanen – Instructor
After years of CrossFit training, Michelle was looking for alternative metabolic exercise options She began practicing Barre & Warrior Sculpt, then found her match with HIIT. She enjoys seeing her students conquer their cardio fears and see those toning and strength results. Michelle is an account manager at The Identity Group. She resides in Pella with her husband, Matt, and their three teenagers: Makenzie, Aidan, and Kyler.

Wendy Vander Well – techie assistant to Shay
Wendy was nudged by Shay to try yoga in 2017 and she has been a faithful yogi ever since. Yoga has been a life-changing form of fitness, and Wendy has loved finding a workout that is low impact and improves mobility as well as strength. Flow will always be her favorite yoga class, seasoned with the weekly Warrior Sculpt class to build strength and Slow Flow to focus the mind. She enjoys keeping things organized and is looking forward to helping provide instructors and clients with the resources they need to succeed. Wendy lives in Pella with her husband Tom, and they have two grown daughters. Taylor and her family currently live in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Madison and her family live in Columbia, SC, which means that Tom and Wendy now count travel as a primary pastime.
